Glossary of Studio Terms

This is the core information used to both index the art piece on the map and to provide visitors with more information about the experience. When setting up an experience in the studio, be sure to fill out all of these fields in order to save your progress and in order to display the works in augmented reality.

Name: This is the name of the piece. The name shows up on both the simple AR preview and the spatial AR preview. Shown in the green outline in exhibit 1 below.

Slug: This is the web address the experience will be activated at. Shown in the green outline in exhibit 1 below. Note: please use the "generate" button to avoid duplicate URLs. The duplicate button takes a few seconds to generate a slug.

Author: This is you! Please tap the "me" button to assign the work to yourself. You might notice that it's a long stream of numbers and letters. This is because every creator in our system has a web3 wallet associated with their account. If you'd like to tie a username to your wallet address please visit the User Information section in the hamburger (3 parallel lines) in the top right of the app. Shown in the green outline in exhibit 1 below.

About: What's the experience about? Share more about the art, the story, and other compelling reasons for the creation of this work. This will show up in the "Spatial AR Preview" under "More Info" for others to view.

Note: please see the diagram below shows where this information is displayed in the spatial AR preview.

Show on Map: this is automatically set to "on". With this feature on, your experience will be represented on the global map with a waypoint others can click and visit (if they're within the geofence of course).

Sign Off: this helps you keep track of if the experience is in its final state or not. Works that are "signed off" can be observed in the Studio Library page.

Content

This area gives the creator the ability to choose what type of AR experience they'd like to create from the media they have. Currently the studio supports image, video, and 3D models in this section. Below messages can be added and there also is an audio specific module for adding audio to experiences. (Please note: best practices for AR are files no greator than 15 MB. Our system supports up to 30 MB for uploading but we caution against going above 20 MB to support low device signal strength)

Image: a still media file that you'd like to bring into augmented reality (.jpg or .png file extensions only)

Video: an video based experience you'd like visualized in AR (.mp4 or .mov file extensions only). For larger video sizes, we recommend visiting the streaming texture section supported by our MUX integration.

3D model: (glb or gltf file extensions only). Please note, 3D files with baked animations will run in the studio.

Message Options

Creators using the illust creator studio can configure messages that they would like to leave in the world. Illust's studio automatically generates a mesh for the words written out with a mixture of font, color, and material options. (supported with Geofencing, Face Tracking, and Image Target placements)

Text: this is the 3D text that you'd like to drop tie to the AR placement of your choice. The preview window allows you to enter numerous lines of text.

Color: this is the color of text you'd like to appear in the AR scene

Material: none/shader, this adds a dynamic element to the text

Font: choose from a selection of pre-set fonts that you'd like to apply to your text
